Willow Spring NC is a large unincorporated area that is actually located in two counties, Johnston and Wake. An unincorporated territory just means that it is not affiliated with any other cities or towns but also is not a town itself. Willow Spring NC will have lower taxes because the town isn’t providing services such as water and sewer that would need to be paid for out of your tax money. They would only have to pay county taxes for the county that you reside in. In Willow Spring, properties have their own septic systems, water is provided by community utility companies and policing is handled by the county sheriff.
Willow Spring is not as well-known as some of the other towns in the area but as far as size, it covers nearly 42 square miles and is almost as large as Holly Springs for the land that it covers. They also make 16 seasonal flavors of homemade ice cream. The recipes they use have been developed by the farmer’s wife and are made with the freshest fruits on the farm.
Stephenson’s Barbecue
Andy Stephenson’s belief is that if a hog isn’t pit-cooked, it isn’t barbecue. In their simple sit-down eatery, they also have barbecued chicken, Brunswick stew and other southern specialties.
