Welcome to Apex

The Peak of Good Living

The historic community of Apex gets its name from a railroad station that was constructed at the highest point along a 30-mile stretch of the Chatham Railroad and in 1994 was designated a historic district. The Apex train depot that was built in 1867 was also designated a Wake County landmark.

Downtown Apex is considered one of the most intact turn-of-the-century railroad towns and has a mix of commercial and residential buildings that go back to the late 1800s with a diverse set of architectural styles. Many of these downtown Apex buildings are listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

An old caboose was an addition to the once fully functional railroad depot station which now serves as a historical museum.

The old Town Hall is now the award-winning Halle Cultural Arts Center after the completion of its renovations. A major renovation project on Apex’s streetscapes in the downtown area has now recaptured its historic feel.

The real estate market is affordable and has plenty of Apex homes for sale that you could easily fall in love with.
